God develops leaders in the field, over their lifetime.

To describe something as "organic", means it is related to or derived from living matter and evolves continuously over time. The shaping of a leader is more organic than programatic.

Leadership is tied to influence not position. Leadership Development is the study of leader’s influence over time. Organic Leadership Development is the study of how God shapes a leader’s capacity to bring influence, over time. Organic Leadership Development explores the soils or lifescapes (TERRAINS) of how God is developing leaders. It explores the people, events and life circumstances that shape a leader’s head, heart and hands.

The Five Terrains

Organic development of a leader is the by-product of leader’s passing through each of these five terrains. In them God shapes character and skills, moving deeper into a leader’s life. Five life terrains include:

  • Transitions
  • Calling
  • Role
  • Longing
  • Growth
